Heritage

Traditional craft meets modern elegance.

Inspired by my Norwegian roots, I drew from a cherished family heirloom—a rose-painted wooden chest—to create the Heritage collection for MYKLÉ. This artwork features intricate motifs inspired by rosemaling, a traditional Norwegian decorative technique known for its flowing floral patterns.

Rosemaling is deeply rooted in Norway’s cultural heritage, flourishing in the 18th and 19th centuries, with each region developing its own unique style. I reimagine this timeless craft through my personal lens, blending its historical charm with a contemporary touch. Influenced by my time as a print designer for Alexander McQueen in London, I add mirrored symmetry to the design, elevating it with vibrant, fresh color combinations that feel both modern and timeless.

I used to join my grandfather in his woodshop as he crafted these beautiful wooden pieces that others would later ornament with rosemaling. Needless to say, this collection is very personal for me.
